KUALA LUMPUR – The government spent more than RM62 million to brand Malaysian Family (Keluarga Malaysia) during Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s administration from August 2021 until November 2022.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and Special Duties), Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the amount of RM62,093,139.05 represented more than 98 percent of the government’s branding expenditure under the three Prime Ministers from March 2020 to January 30.

“The Kerajaan Prihatin branding expenditure under the administration of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin amounted to RM181,752.20 while the branding of Malaysia Madani under the administration of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim amounted to RM489,216.

“Based on the financial records of the Prime Minister’s Department, the organisation of programs related to the rebranding of the government namely Kerajaan Prihatin, Keluarga Malaysia and Malaysia Madani involving the allocation that has been spent until January 30, 2023, is as much as RM62,764,107.25.

“The amount of this expenditure is based on the roadshow programme implemented during the administration of the eighth Prime Minister until now,” he said in a written answer in the Dewan Rakyat.

The statement was in response to Aminolhuda Hasan’s (PH-Sri Gading) question regarding allocations spent on government branding during the administration of the three Prime Ministers namely Muhyiddin, Ismail Sabri and Anwar.

Armizan added that only one Kerajaan Prihatin programme was implemented during Muhyiddin’s administration since the country was under a Movement Control Order.
