Agro Community, Sustainable And Smart Agriculture

The Perak state government encourages the community to cultivate farming activities to reduce daily expenses.
Organising the Mosque/Surau Urban Farming Competition 2023 is an agricultural activity of urban agriculture as a method of producing one’s food in addition to potentially generating the local community’s economy.
The programme launched by the Menteri Besar of Perak, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad, opens participation until 28 February 2023 to any mosque/surau community throughout the state of Perak.
Meanwhile, efforts to empower urban agriculture among school students were also implemented last year through the Edu Farming School 2022 competition. It is divided into two categories, namely Category A (Secondary School) and Category B (Primary School).
A total of 16 schools from the districts of Kinta Utara, Kinta Selatan, Perak Tengah and Kerian participated in the competition.
Idris Shah National Secondary School (SMK), Gopeng emerged as the champion receiving cash amounting to RM6,000 along with a plaque and certificate.
The runner-up, SMK Gunung Semanggol, won a cash prize of RM4,000 along with a plaque and certificate. Third place was won by SMK Sri Kurau receiving RM2,000 along with a plaque and certificate.
Meanwhile, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Changkat Lobak received RM6,000 in cash along with a plaque and certificate. The runner-up went to SK Marian Convent and received RM4,000 along with a plaque and certificate.
The third-place winner, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Siputeh received cash worth RM2,000 along with a plaque and certificate.
The total amount offered is RM36,000. It is coordinated through a collaboration between the Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation (Perak SADC), Agrobank, Perak State Department of Agriculture, JAIPk and MAIPk.
