Two died after the high-powered motorcycle they were riding had collided with a Perodua Bezza in a road accident at KM 296.9 of the North-South Highway (PLUS) heading north early this morning.
The victims, Mohd Rizal Othman and Azura Abdullah, were confirmed dead at the scene.
Kampar District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohamad Nazri Daud said, the police received information about a fatal accident involving a motorcycle and a car at about 6.15am.
“Preliminary investigations found that the accident was believed to be caused by the motorcycle losing control and colliding with a Perodua Bezza car in the right lane.
“As a result of the accident, both motorcycle riders died at the scene,” he said when contacted today.
Mohamad Nazri said, while the driver of the Perodua Bezza only suffered minor injuries.
He said, an autopsy to determine the cause of death will be conducted after the Covid-19 results are obtained.
“The cause of the accident was that the motorcycle lost control and collided with the car in the right lane,” he said.
He said this case is classified under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
