Netflix Basic Plan: RM7 price cut for Malaysians
by Anne Das
Netflix has announced that it is dropping its Basic Plan monthly subscription fee from the previous RM35 per month to no, RM28 per month with immediate effect.
A whopping RM84 worth of savings for a full year are applicable to both new and existing Netflix subscribers. The basic plan will still be AD-FREE and subscribers can enjoy higher quality HD 720p streaming that was recently upgraded.
Last November, the service increased the resolution output to 720p HD for Basic Plan subscribers as opposed to the 480p SD output ever since its 2016 emergence into the Malaysian market.
No other changes have been made within the Basic Plan where subscribers can continue to watch and download content, one device at a time. The new price has since been updated on Netflix’s signup page, its social media pages, as well as its Help Centre for Malaysia.
All Basic Plan subscribers will see this change in their Netflix bills within the coming weeks. As for all other Netflix subscription tiers, there are no changes currently.
The Netflix Basic account can be streamed on a single device and it also supports offline downloads. Watch movies and TV shows on your phone, tablet, computer and even on a Smart TV. The cheapest option is still the Mobile-only plan at RM17/month which lets you stream in 480p SD quality on your phone and tablet.
