KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, a KL-based think tank, together with MICCI Perak, and the Perak Academy will be organising a conference this coming March at the Royal Perak Golf Club. Called the Perak Makmur Summit, the event is a gathering of leading experts, industry leaders, intellectuals, and government officials from the State of Perak and beyond, coming together for a one-day summit with the advancement of Perak at heart.
A state with vast natural resources, Perak has a population of 2.51 million highly-able and competent residents with numerous examples of successful individuals in business, the arts, academia, and other industries, some even going on to global acclaim. With a Gini Coefficient of 0.373, Perak is also one of the happiest states in Malaysia.
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted much of the state’s development. In response, many plans are in the works spearheaded by the Perak State Government. In March 2021, the state government announced the Perak Sejahtera Development Plan 2030 which outlined five strategic thrusts – agriculture, a balanced socioeconomic and physical development, smart collaboration, sustainable use of natural resources, an efficient and caring service delivery system, and quality and high-value expertise. Its cities are answering the ESG call, with low carbon targets being set to make the state more sustainable and conducive for quality living. With the conclusion of the recent 15th General and Perak State Election, a new political climate calls for a recalibration of the state government’s ambitions to underline greater clarity for businesses and potential investors.
To realise these plans, sessions of Perak Makmur Summit have been specifically designed to intervene and discuss key points, generate feedback, and outline solutions to lay out clear policy solutions to enable the State to recover, reset, and become more resilient. Ideas from the Summit will be tabled to the State Government’s benefit to ensure key improvements are made for the benefit of the rakyat. The aspiration of this Summit is to lay the foundations of a developed and prosperous Perak that can hold its head up high, not only among Malaysians, but the global community.
