IPOH: The state government is for the first time launching Perak Women’s Month in conjunction with International Women’s Day which will be celebrated on March 8 every year.
Perak Menteri Besar and Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said that the celebration was not only a symbol of recognition for the contribution of women but also a reflection of their achievements thus empowering the group.
“This year, the theme of the Perak State Women’s Day celebration is ‘Prosperity Together’.
“This theme was chosen to show the government’s continuous efforts to achieve equality in the development agenda regardless of gender which ultimately leads to common well-being,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
Saarani said, with the launch, various programs will be carried out throughout the Perak Women’s Month which starts today and until March 19.
In the meantime, he said, Wanita Perak who has pioneered collaboration with strategic partners will organize the Women’s Month Celebration in six selected districts in stages including Kinta, Mualim, Hilir Perak, Perak Tengah, Kuala Kangsar and Hulu Perak.
Meanwhile, at the ceremony, the Prosperous Perak 2030 Publication Grant Presentation Ceremony was also held, which is another initiative of the Perak State Government through the Darul Ridzuan Institute (IDR) for the publication of 10 scientific materials related to the challenges and issues of the state of Perak.
He said that the initiative was driven by IDR with the strategic cooperation of Pemikir Darul Ridzuan.
“Industry players as well as experts in various fields from higher education institutions to publish 10 books that will be a reference by state stakeholders and implementers towards the realization of the Prosperous Perak 2030 plan,” he said.
These publications will also increase the public’s understanding of the current scenario facing the state of Perak.
This book, which was published for the first time, is expected to be fully completed this year.
