IPOH- The excitement and cheerfulness of 50 orphans were evident when they had the opportunity to choose their baju raya at Econsave supermarket, Chemor yesterday afternoon.
Public Relations Officer of the Ipoh City Council (MBI), Mohd Syahrizal Azmi said the program with the orphans which is held every year is the eighth time it has been organized and has received support from various parties.
“This year’s program is more lively with participation from Perak Community Specialist Hospital (PCSH) and Navira Meditech in addition to main sponsors Econsave Supermarket and Hotel M Roof, Ipoh.
“We celebrate the orphans from the Baitul Aini Organization for Orphans and the Poor in Ipoh, Perak and the Al Yassin Orphanage Organization (PJAYAY).
“In addition to shopping, Navira Meditech sponsored school bags and a total of 27 orphans with vision problems were also given free glasses.
“Econsave Chemor Supermarket donated vouchers amounting to RM50.00 to each of the orphans. PCSH also sponsored duit raya and goodie bags while the iftar ceremony was fully sponsored by Hotel M Roof.
“The MBI also expressed its thanks to the Perak Media Sports & Welfare Club (KSKMP) for their cooperation in providing news coverage since this program has been going on for eight years,” he said in a press conference yesterday.
Also present were Econsave North Region 3 Manager, Shah Effendy Rosman and KSKMP Chairman, Rosli Mansor Ahmad Razali.
One of the orphans from PJAYAY, Siti Nur Fatin Nasuha Abdullah, 8, when interviewed also shared her joy at being able to shop in conjunction with Hari Raya.
“I am delighted to be able to choose the Hari Raya clothes I like, get duit raya and a school bag gift. Thank you all,” she said with a smile.
