PCSH distributed bubur lambuk packs to community during Ramadan

By KT Leong

As part of Perak Community Specialist Hospital’s (PCSH) continuous effort to contribute to the community and enliven the spirit of Ramadan, the management team has organised a bubur lambuk (one pot porridge) distribution drive.

The programme, carried out on a gotong royong (communal cooperation) basis, was headed by the PCSH Muslim Staff. Around 20 PCSH staff rallied around to help cook the bubur lambuk.

“It’s a Muslim tradition to give it out to the community during Ramadan in goodwill. The bubur lambuk became the staple food as it is easy to prepare while having all the nutritional values for your body. It also warms the soul after a whole day of fasting” shared Dr Muhd Mikhail Joseph, Resident Physician and Medical Advisory Committee of PCSH.

Mr Nicholas Chan, CEO of PCSH said “it is an annual event for the hospital staff to make bubur lambuk during Ramadan. This activity fosters greater understanding and improves working relations among staff members while instilling a caring attitude for patients. Bubur lambuk was distributed to those staff on duty, in house patients as well as for the community. In addition, we also gave 1kg packs of sugar to the first 100 drive-thru members of the public who came for the bubur lambuk. Besides that, PCSH volunteers have also delivered bubur lambuk to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Balai Polis Kg Rapat as well as to other healthcare staffs and frontliners who remain devoted to their role in protecting the communities”
