IPOH: A total of 158 new Chinese village heads have been appointed by the Perak State Government Meeting Council to manage local community affairs in their respective areas.
The appointment was completed by the Menteri Besar of Perak, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad.
In his speech, he congratulated them for their appointments.
“The appointment of these village heads is not easy because they are representatives of the community who are closest to the people.
“Because the head of this village is in the village every day drinking coffee with the community. For that reason, the election of the village head must meet certain qualifications.
“They need to be attentive listeners and be good at communicating with local people,” he said.
Also present was the Chairman of the Committee for Domestic Trade, Cooperatives, Consumer Affairs and Chinese New Villages, Woo Kah Leong.
Also present was the Director of Kampung Baru Division, Mr. Lim Shean Lee.
The ceremony ended with a pledge by all the new Chinese village heads who had been appointed led by the Kamunting New Village Head, Ng Leong Wei.
