3 men arrested, 10.4 kg of Methamphetamine drug seized

IPOH: Police arrested three men and seized 10.4 kilograms (kg) of Methamphetamine in a special operation in the parking area of ​​a supermarket in Bercham here yesterday.

Perak Police Chief, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said, the raid by the Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) Perak through the Bahagian Siasatan Jenayah, Ipoh District Police Headquarters was conducted at about 2.20pm.

“As a result of this operation, the police managed to arrest three local men aged 40, 58 and 61 in the parking area of ​​the supermarket.

“As a result of the inspection of the vehicle driven by one of the 58-year-old suspects, the police found a plastic sack in which there were 10 plastic packages containing transparent plastic packets containing suspected methamphetamine-type drugs with an estimated weight of 10.4 kg and a market value of approximately RM400,000,” he said in a statement here today.

Mohd Yusri said that the amount of drugs seized could be used by about 20,000 drug addicts.

He also added that a urine screening test on one of the 58-year-old suspects was found to be positive for Methamphetamine.

According to him, the case is being investigated under Section 39B and Section 15(1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the suspect will be remanded on April 18, 2023 for further investigation.

“In addition, property forfeiture action was also taken against the main suspect in this case under the Dangerous Drugs (Property Forfeiture) Act 1988 with the seizure of a vehicle worth RM12,000 and cash amounting to RM2,200.

“Preliminary investigations found that the suspect is believed to have obtained drug supplies from a foreign national in the northern region of the country,” he said.

He added that this success is an example of the police’s persistent efforts in combating narcotics crime.

“Therefore, the Perak PDRM would like to call on the public to continue to channel information related to any criminal activity to the police so that strict law enforcement actions can continue,” he said.

He said that any information about criminal activities in the state of Perak, can be channeled to the contingent control center (CCC), the Perak Contingent Police Headquarters which operates 24 hours a day at 05-2401 999.
