IPOH: Police are tracking individuals involved in a viral video on social media of playing with firecrackers on the balcony of an apartment in Meru in Ipoh.
Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan said, yesterday the police detected a tag on the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) twitter containing a post by a twitter user named “Megatz” about the act of playing firecrackers on the balcony of an apartment which had attracted the attention of the general public.
“A police review found that a police report had already been received and the case was investigated under Section 290 of the Penal Code (public harm) and Section 4 of the Minor Offenses Act 1955 (burning firecrackers causing public harm).
“Now, the investigation team is tracking the individual who appears to be playing firecrackers in the viral video recording,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Yahaya said, in connection with that, the police would like to call on members of the public who have any information about the incident to contact the Ipoh District Police Headquarters (IPD) Senior Criminal Investigation Officer, ASP Fadli Ahmad on 019-2500019 to assist with the investigation.
“In addition, the public is advised to always be considerate, responsible and vigilant when playing with firecrackers in conjunction with this festive season to ensure personal safety as well as the safety of other people’s lives and property,” he said.
