The District Police Chief stated that the child had drowned

IPOH- Ipoh District Police Chief, ACP Yahaya Hassan stated that a child V. Thanes Nair, 4, is believed to have drowned after falling into the swimming pool of a nursery in Bandar Baru Sri Klebang, Chemor recently.

The statement said a police report was made by the head teacher of the nursery at the Chemor Police Station on April 18.
As a result of the initial investigation, he said the victim was found to be an autistic child who was too active and liked to climb.

“According to the nursery, the victim’s mother did not include any letter stating that the victim was an autistic child. However, the complainant agreed to allow the victim’s mother to place the victim as a probationary student for two hours,” he said.

Yahaya said according to the complainant’s report, the victim had been in the adult swimming pool after allegedly disappearing and the complainant had asked for help from another instructor to give CPR to the victim and then sent him to the hospital for follow-up treatment.

“On April 18, surgery was performed on the victim at HRPB and he received follow-up treatment at HRPB. On 23/4/23, police received information about the victim’s death from the hospital.

The cause of death was brain death due to suffocation and organ failure.
Yahaya said so far the case is classified under Section 31(1)(a) of the Children Act 2001.
