IPOH: For those who are about to return to their work places after the celebrations of Hari Raya Aidilfitri with their families, don’t feel sad or down because Raya is a month long!
It is incomplete to celebrate Hari Raya without enjoying the mandatory dishes such as lemang, ketupat and rendang.
So, there is still time to visit and get some lemang and beef rendang at the ‘Lemang Raja’ stall. It is located near the Sultan Yussuf Izzuddin Shah Mosque in Seri Iskandar, opposite Taman Gemilang, by the Ipoh-Lumut highway.
The stall owner, Raja Muhammad Harith, 30, said that the ingredients used to produce the lemang here is inherited from the royal lineage in the state.
“I learned this lemang recipe from my grandfather, Raja Bashah, and before me, my father.
“We are rebranding, but we still use the traditional recipe from my ancestors who are descendants of the Raja family in Parit, Perak. Even the area itself is named Kampung Raja,” he said when met at the stall.
Raja Muhammad said that this is their third year of opening the lemang stall during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Qurban celebrations.
“This is the second time we have opened in the Seri Iskandar area, previously we were in Kampung Raja in Parit.
“Thankfully, since last year, sales have been encouraging. This year, at least 250 to 300 lemangs are sold per day,” he said.
He added that the stall has been open for three days before Hari Raya and will continue to operate until the fifth day of Raya on Wednesday.
“You can start visiting us from 3pm to get the freshly grilled lemang. We open the stall for 12 hours until midnight, so you can still drop by until the fifth day of Raya to buy our lemang,” he said.
He also said that among the types of lemang made are corn lemang and regular lemang, which are sold at prices ranging from RM10, RM15, RM18, and RM20 depending on the size of the lemang.
“So, customers not only get to enjoy lemang, but we also offer chicken and beef rendang, ” he said.
