LUMUT – More than 3,000 visitors attended the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Flag Lowering Ceremony known as the Sunset Ceremony at Dataran Lumut last Friday.
People from various walks of life including foreign tourists witnessed this ceremony which happened to be held during the school holidays.
The sunset Ceremony is one of the regimental traditions and ceremonies in the RMN service.
In addition, a ceremony was also held to celebrate the 14th anniversary of the Lumut Bandar Navy.
This declaration was held on 24 April 2009 in conjunction with the Perak Jubilee of the reign of the then Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah’s 25th year.
This Navy Lumut Bandar anniversary celebration is a collaboration between RMN and the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM).
The ceremony then continued with a parade of flags, a town parade, a silent parade, a Capoiera demonstration and a fireworks display.
