Squishy, wobbly, and utterly delectable, soufflé pancakes are a thing of beauty. While I’m not one to usually indulge in sugary treats, I simply couldn’t resist trying out Fluff, the latest addition to the food scene in Ipoh. And boy, was I pleasantly surprised!
Fluff’s signature open-kitchen concept, with its wooden earthly furniture and warm tones, invites customers to witness ‘the making of‘ mouth-watering Japanese-style soufflé pancakes as you dine. It’s hard not to be drawn in by the tantalising aroma of baked goods that fills the huge space and makes you want to order everything on the menu.
But it’s not just the pancakes that make Fluff stand out. The café’s spacious and welcoming ambiance, complete with small plant decorations and generous sunlight, is Instagram-worthy and perfect for celebrations or events.
As for the soufflé pancakes themselves, they are hand-made to order using fresh ingredients, with each order taking about 20 minutes to make and up to an hour on busy weekends. The pancakes are light and fluffy, with a custard-like texture that is simply divine. And the toppings! Oh, the toppings. From Biscoff Caramel to Hazelnut Nutella and everything in between, each flavour is delectable and comes with its own set of compatible toppings, syrups, and creams.
But here’s a pro tip: for the ultimate experience, dig in within five to ten seconds after the pancakes are set down on the table. These fluffy soufflé pancakes are so delicate that they start to deflate right away and topple over, much like my feelings when I realised I didn’t order the Caramel Honey Butter topping.
As for drinks, this dessert café is also serving up a selection of specialty drinks, including Hojicha Latte, Kasmin Match Latte, Strawberry Melon Fizz and there’s also plenty of other coffee and tea options to enjoy.
All in all, Fluff is a must-visit for anyone in Ipoh, or anyone who loves soufflé pancakes. You won’t be disappointed.
