IPOH – A total of 555 Neighbourhood Rule Areas (KRT) in Perak received a grant amounting to RM3.33 million from the Ministry of National Unity.
It is to strengthen the role of KRT in the local community.
The grant presentation ceremony was completed at the Friendly Ceremony of the Perak Menteri Besar together with the Ministry of National Unity and Perak State Unity Machinery at Laman Seri Ridzuan last night.
It was presented by the Director General of the Department of National Unity and National Integration, Dato’ Hajah Norison Ramli to Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad.
Rukun Tetangga (Neighbourhood Rule) is a voluntary organisation established by the government in 1975 as a vehicle for the unification of communities of various races.
The origin of its establishment is to ensure the peace and security of the residential area which is now being expanded in line with the current changes and challenges.
At the same event, the Ministry of National Unity also presented a donation of RM1,500 to the Perak Negeri Kasih Nurul Iman Charity Organisation and the Haruman Kasih Ayer Tawar Charity Organisation.
Earlier, the friendly ceremony was attended by about 1,500 people consisting of ministry workers and the Perak state unity machinery.
Also present was the Chairman of the Committee on Human Resources, Health, National Integration and Indian Community Affairs, A. Sivanesan.
