IPOH: The Perak state government held a meeting to discuss and add to the tourism industry in order to support the Perak Tourism Year 2024 promotion plan.
The state’s Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee, Loh Sze Yee said, it is aimed for the industry to have sufficient funds to cooperate with the district in increasing efforts to promote more tourism products.
He said that since the establishment of the unity government last year, various departments and local governments have been actively planning and promoting existing and new tourism products in each district, including publications, sales promotions and upgrading facilities and tourism-based matters.
“We are preparing for Perak Tourism Year 2024 and welcome the arrival of a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to Perak,” he said in a statement recently.
He stressed that, since holding the portfolio last year, with departments and organisations related to the Perak Tourism Organization and the local government, he visited tourism products in many districts non-stop over a period of four months.
“In order to understand the current situation of each tourist product, we communicate with the parties responsible for strengthening publicity work and improving infrastructure,” he said.
In the meantime, he said, a few days ago, he was invited to Bangkok, Thailand to attend the annual general meeting of the Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA) and tourism promotion activities.
“We are carefully planning several plans more than a year in advance, with the hope of achieving the goal, re-increasing the benefits of the local economy and benefiting more industries,” he said.
