TAPAH: Four died and one was seriously injured after the car they were riding in hit the back of a trailer loaded with soil in a road accident at KM 310.2 PLUS southbound here early this morning.
The deceased were Muhammad Azib Nasaruddin, 23 years old; Siti Nur Aminah Nasaruddin, 8 years old; Ahmad Uwais Al Qorni Nasaruddin, 5 years old and Azriyani Abdul Latif, 45 years old.
While the seriously injured victim was Muhammad Fawwaz Nasaruddin, 7 years old.
Assistant Director of the Perak Fire and Rescue Operations Division (JBPM), Mohamadul Ehsan Mohd Zain said that the Tapah Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) received an emergency call at 2.03am to inform about the incident before members assisted by BBP Gopeng rushed to the location.
“A road accident involving a Proton Saga car hitting the back of a Volvo-type soil load trailer and catching fire on the front bonnet of the vehicle was destroyed by fire.
“There were two victims trapped during the incident, the fire was successfully extinguished by members of the public using a fire extinguisher.
“The accident involved six victims, four victims were confirmed dead by health officials while one victim was taken to Tapah Hospital by members of the Gopeng Emergency Services Assistance Unit (EMRS), there were victims who died with burns on their limbs,” he said in a statement this morning.
He said the members made a rescue by using special equipment to remove the trapped victims before handing them over to the police and ambulance.
“The deceased victim was taken to Kampar Hospital for further action,” he said
He said the entire operation ended at 4.25 am.
