IPOH: The police have arrested a man following a viral video showing an incident of the man behaving shamefully and uttering abusive words and making racist sentiments at a restaurant in Falim.
Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan said, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Ipoh District detected a video lasting 1 minute 18 seconds which was transmitted through the social media site Twitter by the owner of the account named “Nan manjoi8715” at the link: https://twitter.Com/nanmanjoi8715/status/1658069037459570688 which has attracted the attention of the general public.
“The police confirmed receiving a police report about the incident last Sunday and the case is being investigated under Section 14 of the Minor Offenses Act 1955 (disgraceful conduct).
“In addition, the police’s investigation has successfully resulted in the arrest of a suspect in Ampang Baru. The suspect is a 42-year-old local man who appears to have behaved disgracefully in the video recording,” he said in a statement today. .
Yahaya said that the initial urine screening test conducted on the suspect found the suspect positive for marijuana.
“Now, the police are completing the investigation of this case and will refer the investigation paper to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for proposed charges.
“With the arrest of the suspect, this case has been resolved. Therefore, the public is advised not to make any speculations about the video that could affect the police’s investigation or cause annoyance among members of the community,” he said.
