KERIAN: The body of a 61-year-old elderly woman was found dead with stab marks on the ear and neck in a house in Kampung Tersusun, Simpang Lima here on Tuesday.
Perak Police Chief, Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the police received a phone call informing them of the discovery of a woman’s body at the location at about 6.45pm.
”The Criminal Investigation Division (BSJ) of the Kerian District Police Headquarters went to the scene and found the body lying in her bedroom half-naked with blood stains on the pillow, mattress and wall.
“There were also cuts and stab wounds on the victim’s ears, neck and cheeks. In addition, there were bruises on both arms of the victim believed to be the result of a struggle with the suspect in an effort to defend herself,” he said in a statement here.
Mohd Yusri said, further investigation found that the suspect had broken into the victim’s house based on the presence of a bullet mark on the window and three pieces of glass had been removed.
“Inspection inside the victim’s house found that no valuables belonging to the victim were missing,” he said.
He said the victim’s body was sent to the Forensic Unit of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for an autopsy and the cause of death was a stab wound to the neck.
“The police are still investigating the true motive of the incident and efforts to track down the suspect are underway and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he said.
