LUMUT – Various department officials from the Batu Gajah District Council (MDBG) recently visited the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) to share the success they have achieved.
This visit follows the recognition received by MPM for several achievements, including at the international level.
The visiting officials consisted of representatives from the Department of Public Health and Municipal Services (JKAPP), the Department of Engineering and Building, and the Corporate and Public Relations Unit.
MPM received international recognition when the Esplanade Lumut Public Toilet was awarded the ASEAN Public Toilet Award 2023-2024.
The award was received during the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2023 held at the Marriott Yogyakarta Hotel in Indonesia on February 5, 2023.
The nomination and award were based on the category of the Esplanade Lumut Public Toilet, which is located in a tourist area and possesses “wow factor” features.
These include recycling elements both inside and outside the toilet, as well as having a herbal garden as part of the landscape to enhance the area.
This victory also repeats the previous success of the Esplanade Lumut Public Toilet being named the Best Public Toilet in Malaysia.
The award was received during the National World Environment Day Celebration 2021 organized by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government.
Therefore, this visit serves as an initiative to establish a benchmark and implement the same methods by MBDG.
