IPOH: The police successfully arrested three suspects involved in a case of burglary and robbery of a senior citizen in a house in Taman Ria, Bercham here last month.
Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan,said, on May 2, May 11 and May 24 last month, Ipoh District Police received two reports of burglary cases and one robbery case report against an elderly couple in the location involved.
“In all three incidents, the victims suffered property losses, including jewellery, cash, binoculars, mobile phones and laptop worth about RM27,000.
“The police take the cases seriously and conduct a special operation to track down the suspects involved,” he said in a statement here today.
Yahaya said, further to the investigation, the police managed to arrest three local men aged 33, 39 and 41 who are believed to be responsible for the case in two separate locations around Bercham at 2pm and 2.30pm yesterday.
“The police also managed to seize some case items, including the vehicle used by the suspect and items belonging to the victim during arrested,” he said.
He said that urine screening tests on the three suspects found that two of them tested positive for methamphetamine.
“With the arrest, all three cases involving the same victim have been resolved. Now, the investigation team is identifying the number of cases committed by this group of criminals around the city of Ipoh and all the suspects will be remanded today for further investigation.
“Thank you to the public who channeled information so that the police managed to arrest the suspect involved and solve the three criminal cases that were reported,” he said.
