KUALA KANGSAR: A male student from a higher education institution here died after being believed to have drowned at the waterfall, Batu Hampar here today.
It is understood that the victim, Muhamad Arif Arsyad Md Salleh, at the time of the incident came with a friend to have a picnic at the location.
Assistant Director of the Operations Division, Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said, Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Kuala Kangsar received a call to inform about the incident at 11.19 this morning before members rushed to the location.
“When members arrived at the location, there was a victim believed to have drowned. A total of 11 students came to have a picnic in the waterfall area.
“One of the victims is believed to have drowned in the waterfall about 20 minutes before team arrival at the scene of the incident, the victim was carried up by friends,” he said in a statement here today.
He said the firemen performed CPR techniques on the victim and then handed the victim over to the ambulance for further action.
“The victim was confirmed dead at Kuala Kangsar Hospital. The entire operation ended completely at 12.43 pm,” he said.
