IPOH – The state of Perak is set to become a major tourist destination for neighbouring countries as it gears up for the Perak Visit Year 2024.
According to Loh Sze Yee, the Chairman of the State’s Tourism, Industry, Investment, and Corridor Development Committee, the visit of delegations from Bangkok and Singapore through the Familiarization Trip (Fam Trip) program will have a significant impact on Perak’s tourism industry.
“Perak is among the states in Malaysia that is rich in various tourist attractions. In addition to the unique caves and limestone hills, other attractions include beaches, lakes, forests, islands, and historical sites,” Loh said.
“The delegations from both countries consist of media practitioners and travel agents, and their presence will undoubtedly help promote Perak’s tourism products more effectively.
I believe that the uniqueness of our products will attract the attention of international tourists to visit Perak,” he added during a speech at the Dinner Reception for the Bangkok and Singapore Fam Trip to Perak, held at Tingkat Valley, Meru.
The Singapore participants included 10 travel agents and six media representatives, while the Bangkok participants consisted of 13 media representatives.
The participants were treated to a reception at Tingkat Valley, Meru, a location that features a minimalist modern forest concept.
Among the dignitaries present was the Mayor of Ipoh, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ MD Daud, Director of Tourism Malaysia Bangkok, Madzwin Zainal Abidin, Deputy Director of Tourism Malaysia Singapore, Mohana Murni, and the Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Perak, Nurmalis Musa.
The Fam Trip was organized by Tourism Malaysia Bangkok and Tourism Singapore. All participants were taken to visit several tourism products in and around Gopeng and the city of Ipoh.
