SUNGAI SIPUT: A total of 242,000 baby fish and udang galah were released in conjunction with the Majlis Pelepasan Anak Ikan at Tapak Cadangan Jeti Kampung Periang, Karai today.
Chairman of the State Rural Development, Plantation, Agriculture and Food Industry Committee, Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun was present to complete the release program.
Mohd Zolkafly said that there were about three species of fish and udang galah (giant freshwater prawn) released during the program that took place this morning.
“Among the fish species released are Baung (10,000), Lampam (119,000), Terbul (13,000) and udang galah (100,000).
“I hope it will be able to provide income to Land Fishermen in the future,” he said in a statement via Facebook today.
He said that the construction of a Jetty will also be carried out this year for the fishing facilities in Kampung Periang.
“Thank you to the Department of Fisheries for the good cooperation and efforts like this will continue from time to time,” he said.
