SITIAWAN: A man died after the car he was driving crashed into a drain in a road accident on the Lekir main road, near the Caltex petrol station here this morning.
The victim, 50-year-old Anuar Maarik was confirmed died at the scene of the incident.
A spokesperson from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Perak received a call informing about the accident at 10.30am before team members rushed to the location.
“A road accident involving a Proton Wira has crashed into a drain causing a driver to be stuck.
“The victim was confirmed dead at the scene by hospital medical officers,” he said in a statement here today.
He said the members acted using rescue equipment to remove the trapped victim and then handed over the victim to the police for further action.
“The whole operation ended at 11.25 am,” he said
