TELUK INTAN: A man died after the lorry he was driving crashed into a trailer in a road accident at km 8 Teluk Intan – Kampung Gajah early this morning.
Hilir Perak District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Adnan Basri said the police received information about a fatal road accident involving a lorry and a trailer at 2.30am.
“Preliminary investigation found that a Volvo type trailer had a technical breakdown and stopped on the road.
“Suddenly a Hino type lorry that arrived from the rear crashed into the rear right corner of the trailer,” he said in a statement here today.
Ahmad Adnan said that the accident involved four victims.
The lorry driver attendant, aged about 60 years, was confirmed dead at the scene due to being stuck and was taken to Teluk Intan Hospital for a post-mortem.
“The lorry driver, a man around 30 years old, suffered minor head injuries and was taken to the same hospital for further treatment in the green zone and has been discharged,” he said.
He added, while the other two victims from the trailer driver, a 33-year-old man and a 22-year-old man did not suffer any injuries.
According to him, the police detained the vehicle involved to be sent for inspection at Computerized Vehicle Inspection Center (PUSPAKOM) and the road accident investigation was carried out by the Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Division (BSPT) of the Hilir Perak Perak District Police Headquarters under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
“The investigation is still ongoing to identify the exact cause of the accident,” he said.
