Jalan Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands was closed for five hours due to a landslide

IPOH: The route at Kilometer 45, Jalan Simpang Pulai – Cameron Highlands is closed to all vehicles following a landslide that occurred late last night.

The matter was confirmed by the police through a statement issued by Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan.

He informed that the police received information about the incident at about 11.12 pm.

According to him, his initial investigation found that the location of the incident was located about 50 minutes away from Simpang Pulai.

“The location of the incident is a slope repair site that is being carried out by the Jabatan Kerja Raya (JKR) contractor.

“The debris has covered the surface of the road, making it impassable for vehicles from both directions,” he said in the statement.

However, no casualty reports were received.

Yahaya said, however, the road was opened to all vehicles at about 4.30 in the morning after the cleaning work was done by the contractor.

He advised road users to be careful and sensitive to the environmental conditions in the area.
