Man believed to have drowned while fishing

BIDOR: A man aged around 40 is believed to have drowned when he was fishing in a mine area near the Bidor-Teluk Intan bypass road, here today.

Assistant Director of the Operations Division of the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said he received a call regarding the incident at 1.32 this afternoon.

Then members from the Bidor Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) rushed to the location.

“When the team arrived at the scene of the incident, information from witnesses who were at the location indicated that a man was fishing in the mine area.

“According to witnesses, the victim went down into the mine to fish and then disappeared from sight and is believed to have drowned,” one of the witnesses told reporters here today.

The tracking and searching operation led by Senior Fire Officer II, Muhamad Zaini Jamaludin, is still ongoing.
