GOPENG: A husband and wife died, while two others were seriously injured after the Proton Perdana car they were riding in crashed in a road accident on Jalan Kota Bharu here today.
The dead husband and wife were Mohd Ramddan Abd Rahim, 44, and Kisdalliana Saad, 43. Meanwhile, a 63-year-old elderly woman and a 7-year-old girl in the same vehicle were seriously injured.
Assistant Director of the Operations Division of the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said, his side received an emergency call informing about the incident at 4pm before members of the Gopeng Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) assisted by the Kampar BBP rushed to the scene of the incident.
“The road accident involved a Proton Perdana type car that crashed, there was a male victim stuck in the passenger side and he was confirmed dead at the scene by the health department.
“While three victims (1 dead, 2 injured) have been removed by civilians,” he said in a statement today.
According to him, the Head of Operations applied the ‘saver’ (technical term used by teams for rescue) concept and then instructed members to use rescue equipment to remove trapped victims.
“The two dead victims were handed over to the police, while the two seriously injured victims were sent to a hospital using the machinery of the Gopeng Emergency Services Assistance Unit (EMRS) and the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) ambulance.
He said, the entire operation ended at 5.14 pm
