Ipoh can proudly add another feather to its cap, as yet another young author is emerging from its populace. Ipoh Echo spoke before about 15 year old Ang Ziyi, and now 12 year old Varunesh Rajasegaran will join her as a peer with the launching of his storybook, “The Bull of School”.
Varunesh actually finished his book when he was just 11. He had already been able to read simple sentences by himself at the age of 3 and started to write by the age of 4. By the age of 5, he managed to tell short stories at his kindergarten.
So this story, “The Bull of School”, is his own original creation, which was edited by retired English teacher Sandra Devi Karpusamy.
Obviously, Varunesh wouldn’t be able to launch a book at such a tender age without the support of his parents, Mr. Rajasegaran, who is a microbiologist at Pantai Hospital, and Mrs. Revathy Rajasegaran, a teacher attached to SK Tasek.
After the story had been edited, they went through a few graphic illustrators before settling with Khiru Arts Studio, Khiruba Nandhini. The illustration work started in January and took 4 months to complete. By early May, they had started applying for ISBN to Perpustakaan Awam Negara and received the ISBN for this storybook on May 13. After which, they immediately sent it for printing in KL.
Varunesh has always dreamt of doing something great, and this book is his dream come true.
His parents have certainly gone above and beyond to make this dream reality.
