Goldsmith shop looted of RM1 million in jewelry. Police hunting for 3 suspects

IPOH: A goldsmith shop in Tanjung Rambutan was broken into by thieves early yesterday morning and suffered a loss of RM1 million in the incident.

Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan said that at about 10.30am yesterday, the police received information from the owner of a goldsmith shop informing that his shop had been broken into by thieves.

“The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code (burglary and theft).

“Initial investigations by the police found that this case took place at about 1 am to 3 am yesterday, where the suspect broke into the gold shop through the back door,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

Yahaya said the suspect looted jewelry weighing an estimated 3 kilograms (kg) with a market value of about RM1 million.

He said the police are currently hunting three suspects who are believed to be responsible for this case.

He said members of the public who have any information about this are requested to assist the police investigation by contacting the Senior Investigating Officer of the Criminal Investigation Division, Ipoh District Police Headquarters (IPD), ASP Norshaharah Marzuki at 010-3790508.
