KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the government will offer RM100 e-cash credit to all adults in the country with an annual income of RM100,000 or less.
The Prime Minister said that the initiative involving an allocation of around RM1 billion will benefit more than 10 million people aged 21 and above, including the B40 and M40 groups.
He said that the e-cash initiative for adults was announced after the government saw the success and great impact of the e-cash program on the community.
“Looking at the success and great impact of the e-cash program on the community, the Government agreed to offer an e-cash credit of RM100 to all Malaysian adults with an income of RM100,000 per year and below.
“The number of eligible beneficiaries is estimated to exceed 10 million people, which includes the B40 and M40 groups with funds of around RM1 billion,” he said when speaking at the MADANI: Empowering the People Economic Launch Ceremony.
According to Anwar who is also the Minister of Finance, the successful implementation of the eBeliaRahmah (eBR) Program not only benefits two million youth, but also helps the business sector generate their income while building a cashless society.
