BOTA: Two men died after the motorcycles they were riding collided in a road accident at kilometre (km) 19 Jalan Bota Kiri Tanjung Belanja here on Monday.
Perak Police Chief, Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said, the fatal accident that happened at about 7pm involved a Honda Dash type motorcycle and a Yamaha 135 LC type motorcycle.
“Preliminary investigations at the scene found that the accident is believed to have occurred when a 64-year-old man was riding a Honda Dash type motorcycle from the direction of Tanjung Belanja to return to his home in Kampung Tua (toward Bota Kiri), while a 17-year-man, riding a type A Yamaha 135 LC was coming from the direction of Bota Kiri towards Tanjung Belanja.
“When he reached the junction of his house, the Honda Dash motorcycle rider suddenly turned right, causing the Yamaha 135 LC motorcycle rider who was moving straight to hit the Honda motorcycle, ” he said through a statement here yesterday.
Mohd Yusri said that as a result of this accident, both motorcyclists suffered severe head injuries and died at the scene.
According to him, an autopsy was carried out yesterday at the Changkat Melintang Hospital.
“The case is being investigated. under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
