SITIAWAN: Four men were killed while another survived when the Proton Saga vehicle they were riding in skidded before burning near kilometre (km) 220 of the West Coast Coastal Highway (WCE), heading north here this afternoon.
Perak Bomba director, Sayani Saidon said her side received a call regarding the incident at 5.11pm.
She said, members of the Ayer Tawar Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) with the help of BBP Sitiawan were rushed to the scene of the incident.
“When Sitiawan’s vehicle arrived at the location, they found a fire involving a Proton Saga vehicle.
“There were five victims, four dead and one was alive.
“The victims are all local men, they work in Lumut and are believed to be on their way back to Ipoh.
“The incident took place approximately 2 km from the Changkat Cermin exit on the WCE highway,” she told reporters on Monday.
The operation was led by Senior Fire Officer II, S. Prakas.
