Kuala Lumpur – PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) foresees an approximate 1.9 million vehicles to traverse the North-South Expressway over the next two days, coinciding with the State Election (PRN) across six states this Saturday.
According to Mohd Yusuf Abdul Aziz, Senior General Manager of Operations at PLUS, preparations and arrangements have been undertaken, encompassing operational management aspects as well as the facilities at toll plazas and rest and service areas (R&R), all aimed at optimizing the infrastructure to accommodate the influx of vehicles on the expressway.
Yusuf mentioned that PLUS will temporarily halt maintenance, upgrades, or construction works requiring lane closures on the expressway from tomorrow until Sunday, except for emergency operations such as rerouting accident-involved vehicles, accident site cleaning, and critical repair tasks.
“PLUS is also ensuring that public amenities such as toilets, prayer rooms, and petrol stations at R&R areas and laybys operate 24 hours a day to cater to visitors’ presence,” he added.
Yusuf advised the public intending to return to their hometowns or proceed to their respective voting locations to make meticulous preparations and plan their journeys more efficiently during this period.
“Expressway users should also anticipate longer travel durations due to increased vehicular traffic compared to regular days.
“Expressway users are also urged to adhere to speed limits, follow traffic instructions, and drive cautiously,” he stressed.
The public can download the PLUS application to facilitate trip planning and receive real-time traffic updates on the expressway.
