MANJUNG: A sand suction ship was found on fire in the lower deck area of the ship near Grad One Marine Yard, here today.
Assistant Director of the Operations Division of the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said he received a call regarding the incident at 9.46 this morning.
He said members of the Sitiawan Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) with the help of BBP Seri Manjung were then rushed to the scene of the incident.
“The arrival of A1-39 Sitiawan resue machinery at the location found that there was a fire involving a sand suction vessel known as ACCARES 1.
“It is located at the repair dock and the fire involved the lower deck space of the ship with an estimate of five percent,” he told reporters on Monday.
He said the extinguishing operation had been carried out and it was led by Suhaimy Mohd Suhail.
