IPOH – The Perak state government, in collaboration with the State Information Department (JPN), is organizing a competition in conjunction with National Month from August 14 to 25, with a total prize pool of RM25,000 up for grabs.
The event includes the National Month Cheerfulness Competition, Merdeka Tiktok Video Competition, Mobile Instagram Photo Competition, and Online Crossword Puzzle Competition.
Mohd Rizal Hashim, the Director of the Perak State Information Department, stated that the objective of the competition is to enhance a high level of patriotic spirit through creativity, knowledge, and expressing citizens’ love for the nation.
He emphasized that all these competitions are specially organized for the people of Perak and those residing in the state to engage in activities during the National Month of 2023.
“For the National Month Cheerfulness Competition, it’s not just about decoration, but the main goal is to boost patriotic spirit through creativity and innovative raising of the Jalur Gemilang (Malaysian flag).”
“Three categories are being contested: secondary schools, primary schools, and government/private buildings. The winner of this competition will take home RM3,000, while the runner-up will receive RM2,000 and the third-place winner will receive RM1,000,” he stated during the press conference.
The Merdeka Tiktok Video Competition requires participants to create a 30-second creative video expressing the spirit of national independence through elements of culture, history, iconic buildings in Perak, or other relevant topics.
The first-place winner of this competition will be awarded a cash prize of RM700, followed by second place (RM500) and third place (RM300), along with 9 consolation prizes of RM150.
Mohd Rizal explained that for the Mobile Instagram Photo Competition, participants have the opportunity to capture National Month moments by translating nationalistic spirit, natural beauty, and cultural heritage.
He mentioned that participants only need to take photos with the ‘Jalur Gemilang’ (Malaysian flag) using their smartphones.
“The cash prize for first place is RM700, while second and third places will receive RM500 and RM300, respectively, along with 5 consolation prizes of RM150.”
The Online Crossword Puzzle Competition, on the other hand, will be conducted online, presenting questions related to independence, national and Perak state history, thereby enhancing participants’ knowledge.
Participants will also have the chance to express the meaning of independence through creative slogans generated based on the themes of ‘Malaysia Madani’ and ‘Perak Sejahtera 2030’ (Prosperous Perak 2030).
“Winners will be chosen based on correct answers and captivating slogans.”
“The first-place winner will receive a cash prize of RM500, second place (RM300), third place (RM200), and 10 consolation prizes of RM100,” he added.
Therefore, the Perak State Information Department invites all residents of Perak to participate in this competition.
