IPOH – “PORTFEST 2023 offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the arts through the products created by the younger generation,” stated Ahmad Zariani Harun, 45, a visitor at PORTFEST held at Dataran Ipoh (MBI) today.
He further elaborated that aside from various exhibitions, the attention-grabbing demonstrations of graffiti art by local artists captured his interest.
“The organizers have successfully provided a platform for local artists to nurture their talents through this program. Similarly, the evening concert performances allow legendary rock musicians to once again enliven the city’s nightscape.
“Programs like this should be continued, especially in conjunction with the Visit Perak 2024 initiative, to attract more tourists to the city of Ipoh,” he emphasized.
PORTFEST 2023 spanned two days, from August 19th to 20th, 2023. It is an event brand introduced by PORT in 2015.
This festival-style program gathers communities from diverse artistic fields, especially the young generation in the state of Perak.
The “Graffiti Wall Shoot 2.0” demonstration was successfully conducted by 16 graffiti artists from both domestic and international locations.
The “Drink & Draw” workshop with comic artist Ben Wong, organized by the Sako Plus cartoonist group, along with the “1 on 1 BBoy Battle” dance competition by Blazin Squad, as well as the Hotwheels and Toy exhibition and competition by Kolek, were also featured.
Two nights of free concerts were headlined by renowned rock music groups including XPDC, Gerhana Ska Cinta, Riddim Bois, and Sekumpulan Orang Gila (SOG).
In addition, a high-powered motorcycle exhibition featuring brands like Harley Davidson, Triumph, and Royal Enfield added excitement to the exhibition segment.
Visitors were also able to relax and indulge in a variety of foods at the food and beverage stalls.
