The enforcers will take actions of traders ‘cop’ dining tables

IPOH: The Ipoh City Council (MBI) warns traders in food courts or business premises under its supervision who practise the ‘cop’ (table stamping) policy.

The mayor of Ipoh, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin said, there is no term ‘cop’, or restrictions for customers to sit at any of the dining tables provided at the food court.

He stressed again, traders should practise tolerance and follow the conditions that have been written when starting a business.

Therefore, he said, he will ask the enforcement authorities to monitor any traders who are still stubborn and practise the ‘cop’ of the dining table.

“Customers can eat at any table that is provided, there are no problems or restrictions. We cannot make such conditions for customers.

“There is no dining table ‘cop’ system, the traders set such conditions themselves. We will ask MBI enforcement officers to monitor the area.

“Often the enforcers will come with the Licensing and Health Division to monitor the issue.

“We give advice first, the second time they still practise the ‘cop’ of the dining table then we will compound, as a final solution. If they are stubborn we will also cancel the business licence,” he said.

He said this after completing the Program Kibar Jalur Gemilang Peringkat MBI 2023 at the MBI, here today.

Previously, it went viral on social media regarding the issue of a few traders at Medan Selera Stadium here who allegedly did not allow customers who ordered food from other stalls to sit at the table opposite their booth.
