The Perak government launched Perak HIP@Lekir

MANJUNG: Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation (SADC Perak) launched the Perak@Lekir Halal Industrial Park (Perak HIP) at Batu 9 Lekir, Lekir District here today.

Menteri Besar Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said, the 106.57-acre project that will be operational in 2025, will be the heart of the new economy and a platform for entrepreneurs and halal business owners to bring their products to the global market.

“This is a continuation of the local cattle program implemented by SADC Perak since 2022 with the main goal of increasing halal meat production in Malaysia;

“Strengthening a sustainable and integrity-based supply chain, providing added value to meat production, as well as expanding the reach of Perak’s halal products” , he said when he was present to inaugurate the groundbreaking ceremony for the project.

Saarani added that this development also provides an opportunity for companies that are looking for strategic locations, sophisticated facilities and an ecosystem that supports growth and innovation to jointly participate in Perak HIP later.

“Gross Development Value (GDV) is expected to reach RM1 billion and will offer competitive industrial land prices comparable to other industrial areas.

“SADC Perak is also committed to invest a total of RM20 million in the first two years, including for the construction of a flyover to connect the West Coast Highway (WCE) directly to Perak HIP to ensure smooth logistics,” he said at a conference during the program.

At the same ceremony, there was also a handover of a replica check worth RM20 million from Agrobank to SADC Perak to finance the participants involved in the Perak HIP.

In addition, the submission of a letter of support for the Perak HIP development proposal between Maybank Islamic Berhad and SADC Perak as well as an entrepreneur’s memorandum between Perak Agro Farm Sdn Bhd, Ladang Lekir Sdn Bhd and Eurofresh Sdn Bhd in the development of the local cattle industry.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of Perak SADC, Yahanis Yahya said, Perak HIP is not just an ordinary industrial park.

“It is a park that will be equipped with a meat processing center, a slaughtering and processing complex, a Halal Meat R&D center, a chicken processing center, and an animal feed processing plant; this park will be a hub of excellence in the halal food industry,” he said.
