SIMPANG PULAI: A male worker died in a stone collapse incident at a quarry site near Keramat Pulai, here today.
The victim who is a foreigner identified as Sohail Sajjad, 36, was buried in the rock rubble.
Ipoh District Police Chief, ACP Yahaya Hassan said the police received a call regarding the incident from the public at 10.50 this morning.
“We received information about a rock collapse incident that occurred today at the Keramai Pulai quarry site.
“A man believed to be a worker at the quarry was buried in the rock rubble,” he said in a statement here today.
He also said that the Ipoh police then conducted a joint search and rescue operation together with the fire department, the Department of Minerals and Geosciences and related agencies at the location.
“At 12.35 in the afternoon, the rescue team managed to find the body of the victim next to the excavator buried under the rock rubble,” he said.
