GERIK – Taman Bukit Senyum in Lenggong has been selected as the Women’s Safety Squad (Amanita) Police Contingent of Perak’s designated area for the year 2023.
The Amanita Squad is a police initiative launched a decade ago to engage women, especially housewives, in the collective effort to combat crime in their residential neighbourhoods.
Moreover, it instils a sense of responsibility in them to collaborate with the police in ensuring neighbourhood safety and to be vigilant in the face of contemporary criminal situations.
The program’s primary objective is to foster a stronger connection between the police and the local community, particularly the Gerik District Police Headquarters (IPD Gerik), by focusing on Amanita activities.
Various activities have been conducted, including aerobic exercises, lectures on sexual offences, and domestic violence awareness sessions facilitated by the Criminal Investigation Division of IPD Gerik.
Additionally, a parachute jump performance was executed by the 69 Commando team.
Furthermore, there was a 50% reduction in traffic fine payments available at the counter, as well as various exhibitions featuring the police and various government departments and agencies.
Previously, the program’s inauguration ceremony was officiated by the Chief Minister, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad.
In attendance were the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Dr. Shamsul Anuar Nasarah, and the Chief of Police for Perak, Dato’ Sri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.
