SERI ISKANDAR: A man died after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a lorry in a road accident at Kilometre (Km) 29 Jalan Ipoh – Lumut here yesterday evening.
Perak Deputy Police Chief, Datuk Azizi Mat Aris said, at about 3.30pm, the Perak Tengah district police received information about a fatal road accident involving a Honda Wave type motorcycle and a Hino type lorry.
“Preliminary investigations at the scene found that an accident occurred near the Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) traffic light, when a 46-year-old man riding a motorcycle from the direction of Ipoh turned right (towards the UTP) and collided with a lorry driven by a 42-year-old man which was moving straight towards Ipoh.
“As a result of the accident, the victim suffered severe head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene,” he said in a statement here today.
Azizi said the police also arrested the lorry driver to help the investigation.
“The results of the post-mortem conducted at Changkat Melintang Hospital, Bota found that the cause of death was ‘head and cervical injury consistent with road traffic accident.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
He added that the police advised all road users to always obey traffic light rules to prevent accidents like this from happening.
