The video regarding the incident of a motorcycle hitting a motorcycle of the Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) which went viral on social media recently was unintentional.
Muallim District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir said the incident occurred on April 26 and the status written in the viral video was not true at all and did not reflect the actual incident.
He said, yesterday his department detected a short video on social media with the status ‘Di saat rakyat dianiaya oleh pemimpin negara’ (When the people are persecuted by the country’s leaders) and ‘Izinkan kami langgar apa yang ada depan mata’ (Let us violate what is in front of our eyes)
“The video involved, received many negative comments from netizens.
“The Muallim District Police Headquarters (IPD Muallim) would like to explain that the actual incident happened on April 26.
“Two members of URB IPD Muallim headed to the Orang Asli Pos Bersihvillage area, Slim Village after receiving information related to road accidents,” he said in a statement here today.
Mohd Hasni said, while on the trip, URB members asked a group of local residents for the exact location.
However, when he was about to head to the scene, a motorcycle ridden by a villager accidentally hit the back of a URB motorcycle.
“The violation did not cause any damage and has been resolved properly,” he added.
Therefore, he said, the police advised the public not to make any speculations and negative perceptions could affect the image of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
