Ipoh: The Ipoh City Council (MBI) has stepped forward to provide donations to B40 students who have successfully progressed to higher education levels.
Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin, the Mayor of Ipoh, stated that this contribution would help alleviate the financial burden on the parents of MBI members and non-Muslim B40 urban dwellers who have been selected to support their children’s education at higher education institutions.
“This contribution program is one of the initiatives under the MBI Cares program, under the Non-Muslim Affairs Committee of the Ipoh City Council, managed by the Perbandaran Services Department.
The provided donations can be used for tuition fees or related expenses. The cash will be credited to the recipient’s bank accounts as provided to the organizers,” he said after the Scholarship Donation Program for the Children of MBI Staff & Non-MBI Members (Non-Muslim Children) at the MBI Azlan Shah Hall yesterday.
Rumaizi presented scholarships worth RM600 to 15 recipients who have received offers to pursue undergraduate, diploma, and foundation studies at public universities.
The MBI Cares program has been implemented since the Movement Control Order (PKP) in collaboration with government agencies, NGOs, and private entities to assist MBI residents and Ipoh city dwellers from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
