The Perak Turf Club played host to a spectacular event on 1/10/23 as the Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs in Training Sale and Luncheon unfolded amidst an air of excitement and anticipation. Dato John Lim, Chairman of The Perak Turf Club, extended a warm welcome to all attendees, setting the stage for a day filled with equestrian allure.
In collaboration with the PRTC, Magic Millions Sales Pty Ltd stands not just as an auction house but as a curator of equine excellence. Founded with a vision to unite the finest bloodlines and most promising racing prospects, Magic Millions has solidified its position as a key player in the world of Thoroughbred Sales.
International Sales Director for Magic Millions, Mr. David Chester, graced the luncheon with his presence, extending a warm welcome to trainers, owners, and horse enthusiasts. The luncheon provided a relaxed setting where David Chester shared insights into the joys of horse ownership.
Addressing the guests on incentives to buy horses, David Chester announced, “The International Equine Air Freight Company from Australia will contribute AUD 3,000, to be shared among owners purchasing horses during the Gold Coast sale.” This contribution aims to offset some of the costs associated with flying horses to Malaysia, emphasising collaborative efforts to rejuvenate horse racing.
In addition, Dato John Lim revealed that PRTC would provide a subsidy of AUD 5000 for each horse bought at the 2YOs sale, up to a maximum of 15 horses collectively for different buyers/owners. Each owner, even with multiple purchases, is entitled to only one subsidy.
As the event unfolded, the race track buzzed with energy, featuring trophy races dedicated to Magic Millions—The 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs Sale Trophy race and the 2023 Equine International Airfreight Trophy race.
Besides the winner’s trophy, the winning trainer of The 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs in Training Sale Trophy was also gifted a Sale Credit of AUD5,000 to be used for purchase of horses at the aforesaid Magic Millions horse sale.
For these two races, Perak Turf Club presented a Special Bonus of RM5,000 each to the winning owners, in addition to their winning stakes.
David Chester commended the Perak Turf Club for its unwavering efforts and effective promotional strategies. Recognizing the club’s pivotal role in facilitating new owners’ entry into the sport, especially through the Malaysian Racing Association, he stated, “The Perak Turf Club is making efforts to encourage owners and potential owners to invest in young and exciting horses, aiming to restore the sport to its former glory, making horse racing in Ipoh an exhilarating lifestyle and something for Perak to look forward to.”
The Magic Millions Gold Coast 2YOs in Training Sale and Luncheon underscored the collaborative spirit between The Perak Turf Club, international partners, and stakeholders. As the event drew to a close, it marked a significant stride towards revitalising the glory of horse racing in Ipoh.
