Nawfal Seafood Restaurant: Preserving Thai Culinary Traditions at a Five-Star Level
By: Rosli Mansor Ahmad Razali
Nawfal Seafood Restaurant is the only establishment that serves truly authentic Thai cuisine capable of evoking the delightful nostalgia of Krabi, Thailand.
The uniqueness of this restaurant has been personally acknowledged by its owner, Muhamad Yusuf Abdul Aziz, aged 55, who desires that every patron savour dishes prepared following the original recipes and cooking techniques from Thailand.
He highlighted his emphasis on preserving traditional dishes, staying true to the original recipes and cooking techniques inherited through generations from their cultural origins, thereby retaining the essence of taste and texture with minimal alterations.
“Our dishes are indeed celebrated for their unique flavours and the freshness of seafood, encompassing not only Thai cuisine but also seamlessly fusing elements of Western dishes in a cross-cultural ‘fusion’.
“We craft our cuisine by grinding our own spices, abstaining from instant seasonings and artificial flavourings. This method, built upon the exclusive use of kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass, and galangal as aromatic elevations, distinguishes us from the other restaurants in Ipoh.
“Among the Thai dishes that have endeared themselves to our customers is the Nawfal Fish, a specially crafted recipe by Chef Arsan Salleh, 28, hailing from Pattani, Thailand. Additionally, the Baraqah Fish, Kaeng Som Fish, Tilapia Miang Pla, and Tomyam Pok Tek have also gained immense popularity here,” he explained.
According to Muhamad Yusuf, many customers prefer the set menus offered. There are three sets available: Set A, offers three menu items with steamed rice at RM55.00, including a complimentary drink.
Set B caters to groups of four with five menu items, steamed rice, and a free beverage for RM80.00. Lastly, Set C is designed for parties of eight, offering six menu items, steamed rice, and complimentary drinks at RM100.00.
In addition to these main courses, a variety of side dishes, including vegetables, fried items, soups, and tom yam, are offered at very reasonable prices.
The restaurant places a strong emphasis on the quality of ingredients and swift service, ensuring that each dish is served within just 4 minutes, matching the standards of a five-star restaurant while maintaining an affordable price point starting at RM5.00.
Chef Nabil Fikri Abdul Kadir, an expert in Western cuisine with extensive experience in the hospitality industry, serves as the culinary advisor for Nawfal Seafood Restaurant.
His fusion creation, the Creamy Tomyam Seafood Spaghetti, has received high praise from diners.
“Other popular Western dishes include Grilled Chicken Chop (RM13.00), Lava Chicken Chop (RM17.00), Lamb Chop Grill (RM22), Chicken Lava Burger (RM20), and Fish and Chips (RM13.00).
“For pasta enthusiasts, a range of delectable options, including Spaghetti Aglio Olio, Carbonara, and Creamy Tomato Beef Strip, are available at affordable prices, starting at RM15.00,” he said.
