IPOH: The number of flood victims in the districts of Hilir Perak and Kerian increased to 265 people on Wednesday afternoon, compared to 261 at noon.
A spokesperson for the District Flood Disaster Management Committee said the increase occurred at the Teluk Intan Municipal Council Hall temporary relief centre (PPS), while two other PPS remained unchanged.
As of 2 p.m., a total of 265 victims from 83 families have been accommodated in three PPS, namely the Padang Tembak Multipurpose Hall, the Teluk Intan Municipal Council Hall, and Changkat Lobak National School.
“In the Kerian district, there are 27 victims from five families, while in Hilir Perak, there are 238 victims from 78 families.
“According to a statement from the Malaysian Meteorological Department, thunderstorm warnings have been issued for eight areas in Perak, including Hilir Perak, this afternoon,” the spokesperson stated in a Wednesday announcement.
Earlier, the media reported an increase in the number of flood victims in Perak, with 245 victims in two districts, Hilir Perak and Kerian, compared to 221 individuals the previous night.
The affected areas in Hilir Perak currently include Lorong Kedah, Lorong Belakang Klinik, Batu 9, Simpang 3, Batu 10, Batu 7, Lorong Sidang Osman, and Batu 9. In the same district, this affects Kampung Batu 9 Changkat Jong and Kampung Kilang Kacang, while in Kerian, it involves Kampung Matang Tengah.
