Police investigating a driver who nearly hit a student after running a red light

BATU GAJAH: A student faced a tense moment when he was almost hit by a truck while crossing the road in front of the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Toh Indera Wangsa Ahmad here.

The incident was captured on the front camera of a car believed to be driven by the student’s mother.

Based on the video, the student crossed the road after the pedestrian signal showed red for the vehicles on both sides of the road.

The student’s path was also a yellow pedestrian crossing area, which means drivers or riders must stop if they see a student crossing.

The video of the incident that occurred on October 13th also went viral on social media.

In the meantime, the Batu Gajah District Police Headquarters (IPD) is asking any witnesses to come forward to assist in the investigation.

Upon investigation, a driver found guilty of running a red light can be fined up to RM 300 under Section 17 of the Traffic Light Signals Regulations.
